Although many children make steady progress in reading and writing, there are others who find aspects of literacy difficult and perplexing.
To make a start in understanding the issues that they face we need to consider several factors:
- Pedagogy based on evidence
- Environmental factors in the school
- Possible medical conditions
- Possible social factors
- Screening and diagnostic assessments
From this we move to planning and then teaching, continuing to move through the cycle to ensure attainment and appropriate pace of learning.
